I had my first experience of an #Irishbizparty last night on Twitter. For those who don't know what it is. Its where new and established SME's meet on Twitter every Wednesday night between 9-11pm and use the hashtag #Irishbizparty to network with each other. The Tweets are fast and furious with sometimes hundreds of SME's from every conceivable sector of industry posting their products or service and offering good advice to those who ask for it. I was a little slow at posting at the beginning of the evening but the tweets and RT's soon started to mount up. By the end of the two hours I had gained over 130 hits to this website, 45 new followers on our @therisingtrail twitter feed, countless numbers of RT's and over 10 new downloads of our app. For me that was an excellent return on what is a free, easy & fun to use service. So my advice to any Irish SME is get on this thing, you'll get to network with some very interesting people in similar circumstances to yourself. You may gain new customers or meet that supplier that reduces your costs to allow profit growth, but more important then that you are letting other people know you're there and that may reach far beyond the 2 hours you spend tweeting on a Wednesday night. I know that I'll be back on Twitter next Wednesday night and if you are a SME that wants to get the word out there about your business you should be to. Just don't forget to use the hashtag #Irishbizparty on your posts and enjoy.
